We’ve put together some ideas the whole family will love featuring some of the best winter in the New Hampshire Lakes Region has to offer. Hit the slopes at one of our four ski resorts; try something deliciously new at a host of local eateries, breweries, and wineries; or, take some time to just explore the great outdoors. So, get ready to pack up the kids and the winter sports gear! We can’t wait to welcome you here.
Monday: White Mountain Magic
It’s time to make your way to the mountains for some wicked winter sports! Spend Sunday night at the rustic refuge, Indian Head Resort. In the morning, get up and at ’em with a hearty breakfast at the Woodstock Inn Brewery before you begin your journey. On the drive, take advantage of the Common Man in Lincoln’s new Grab ‘n’ Ski menu for delicious lunches on the go! Just order by 6pm Sunday night and schedule a pickup for 8am. Once you’ve snagged your snacks, drive through the beautiful White Mountains until you get to the Mount Washington Cog Railway. Ride the rails on one of their excursions and then dig into that lunch. Then, it’s time to head over to Alpine Adventures for zip lining tours, show-shoe treks, aerial challenge courses, or off-road tours. Once everyone has gotten their thrills, it’s time to make your way back to the Indian Head Resort for some dinner and well-deserved R&R.
Tuesday: Time to Make Tracks
After another restful night and breakfast at Indian Head Resort, head back down I-93 S to Owl’s Nest Resort. If you have your own snow-shoes or cross country skis, now’s the time to break them in! If not, Owl’s Nest makes rentals easy through the nearby Ski Fanatics. After a busy morning walking through our winter wonderland, you’ll definitely be looking to fuel up with lunch at Six Burner Bistro. While they aren’t open every day in the winter, Squam Lakes Natural Science Center has some fantastic educational programs, so after lunch check out our calendar of events and see what they have in store. Next, it’s time to experience some farm-fresh history at the Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm. Your little ones will love visiting the animals while you’ll cherish the opportunity for your family to learn more about the rich farming history of New Hampshire. As the day comes to a close, make your way back to Plymouth for dinner and a night’s stay at Purity Spring Resort. The perfect prelude to tomorrow’s snow-filled fun!
Wednesday: Winter Sports Galore
Grab breakfast at King Pine’s Pine Cone Café featuring a made to order menu made easy with online ordering. Then, it’s time to pack in some family time on the powder! While King Pine is known for their killer ski and snowboard slopes, they also offer snow tubing, ice skating, and cross-country trails. Next, it’s time to head over to White Lake Speedway for laser tag, bowling, arcades, and more! After you’ve gotten your fix of some friendly family competition, make your way to Sap House Meadery in Center Ossipee. While this may seem like an adults-only affair, their delicious food is a crowd pleaser. Once you’ve had your mead moment, head on over to the Lake Wentworth Inn, park, and check in. If you brought your cross-country skis or snowshoes, now’s the perfect time to take a scenic trek on the Cotton Valley Rail Trail. Then, head into downtown Wolfeboro for shopping followed by dinner at Garwoods Restaurant & Pub. Enjoy dessert courtesy of Yum Yum Shop, a local favorite for sweet treats!
Thursday: Thirsty for More Snow?
Chow down on some delicious family favorites in a quaint, rustic atmosphere at the Wolfeboro Inn. Then, hit the road and head over to Gunstock Mountain Resort for even more skiing, snow tubing, and snow-shoeing! With plenty of dining options right on the mountain, there’s lots to choose from for lunch. Then, for some educational and environmentally friendly fun, make your way to Prescott Farm. Their Adventure Packs make planning your trip a breeze, no matter the season! With a busy day behind you, you’re sure to have worked up an appetite. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner at O’s Steak and Seafood before you rest up at the Lake Opechee Inn and Spa.
Friday: Family Fun, Treats, and Sweets
After two days on the slopes, you’ll probably be looking forward to a low key Friday. Snag breakfast at the Lake Opechee Inn and then relax the morning away (moms: now’s the time to get some spa time in!). For lunch, head over to T-BONES Great American Eatery for some hearty fare. The kids will be thrilled to head over to the historic Kellerhaus for homemade chocolate, candies, ice cream, and more! Kellerhaus has been a Lakes Region staple since 1906 and one taste is all it takes to see why. Harness the sugar rush and head over to Funspot, the world’s largest arcade. Then, head over to Giuseppe’s Pizzeria & Ristorante for delicious pizza, pasta, and Italian American fare. Now that you’re in the Mill Falls Marketplace, you can’t leave without doing some shopping, right? A restful stay at the elegant Mill Falls at the Lake is the perfect way to end your day.
Saturday: A Lakes Region Send-Off
Wrap up your February vacation with some Lakes Region family favorites. Start with breakfast at George’s Diner. Then, make your way out on the ice and try your hand at some ice fishing. Once you’ve packed up your gear hit the road and make your way to Ragged Mountain Resort. Ice fishing is sure to leave you hungry, so you’ll want to start your visit with lunch at Birches Mountain Restaurant. Once you’ve fueled up, head out for another day of winter sports. Then, snag some dinner in nearby Andover before you wrap up your time in the Lakes Region with a stay at the Highland Lake Inn.
