Katie Dobbins

Award-winning singer-songwriter and light warrior Katie Dobbins seeks to share honest music that captivates listeners and brings light to the darkness. With a mastery of storytelling and the heart of a poet, this soulful songstress captures elements of life and relationships in ways that lift the spirit and challenge the soul. Her album There Is Light, produced by multi-award-winning producer Sean McLaughlin of 37′ Productions, was awarded Album of the Year at the 2021 Limelight Music Awards. Her single There’s a Light, mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Jeff Lipton, was featured on Spotify’s Editorial playlist. Her music has been featured on prominent radio stations like The River and “Boston’s Hottest Country,” with host Carolyn Kruse raving “Sweet but bold, Katie’s voice is reminiscent of one of her heroes, Jewel, but only deeper… A fearless spirit with a gentle touch.” Dobbins’ latest single Grateful is an ethereal ballad that she describes as divinely downloaded to her in a moment of awe and inspiration. The track was mixed and mastered by Emmy-nominated producer Brian Coombes of Rocking Horse Studio (NH), whom Katie has released several singles with over the past year.

Kray Van Kirk

A fine finger-style guitarist with a precise baritone, Kray Van Kirk has a Ph.D. from the University of Alaska, but he set science aside to write songs, tell stories and summon heroes.

“We are driven by myth and the seasons of the heart,” he says, “and the stories are all true. There is a dark cave inside each of us, and monsters of all kinds lurk there, all the more lethal for being hidden. The quest is to journey inside, render the monsters powerless, find whatever it is that burns at the core of your soul and bring it back into the light. In a world divided it is critical to write songs and tell stories that show absolutely everyone they get to be the hero. Nobody is left behind.”

When he reached Scotland and the Fringe Festival, the Daily Fringe Review wrote ìThe evening’s act was Kray Van Kirk, whose 12-string guitar and soaring vocals were spellbinding; the Alaskan singer-songwriter, in his Edinburgh debut, was not the reason I arrived early, but was certainly why I stayed late.”

Of this charming, Quixotic and eclectic performer, the Borderline Folk Club in New York wrote that Van Kirk was “what every singer-songwriter should aspire to.”

Christine Baillargeon

Christine Cote’ Baillargeon is a California born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist born on the right side of the 1960’s. Bell-bottom jeans, halter tops, Rock n’ Roll, Soul, R&B, Disco, they were all woven in. But folk music won her heart. Fueled by lullabies from a late-night living room with a pungent odor, and a guitar in the hands of young man, loving a beautiful girl, who sang like an angel. She picked up her first guitar at the age of 11, which was the beginning of a love affair with stringed instruments. Christine went on to embrace the mandolin, octave mandolin, banjo and dobro along her journey and just recently started piano lessons. There is no end to the possibilities. After channeling her favorite songwriters for decades, Christine is recording her first solo album. She is a favorite on the Central Coast of California and the Lake Regions of Maine, and has opened for Maria Muldaur, Travis Meadows, Dean Sams (Lonestar) and Meghan Lindsey (Steel Magnolias). Her songs are simple stories, poignantly delivered, fronting an unexpected timbre’. Just a short distance from the beaten path.

A Listening Room Experience

Hermit Woods is excited to bring talented artists from New England and beyond to perform for you. Each performance will provide you with an intimate, up-close, and personal experience with the performing artists. We ask our audience please refrain from talking during the featured show. Your silence will allow the artists and the audience to immerse themselves in the experience, which is not otherwise possible in larger, noisier environments.
