Historical Hike and Winery Tour and Tasting – Hermit Woods Winery & Sweet Mercy Kitchen, Meredith NH

August 24 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Saturday, August 24

Join us for a short hike and history tour of Joseph Plumer’s grave site, followed by a tour and tasting at Hermit Woods Winery.

Join Hermit Woods Winery & Eatery Founder Bob Manley on August 24 at 9:45 a.m. for a short hike to Joseph Plummer’s grave site in the Hermit Town Forest. After the hike, we will convene at Hermit Woods Winery for a winery tour and tasting. One-third ($10) of your ticket price will be donated to the Meredith Historical Society. To minimize our impact on the forest, we are capping the hike at ten guests.

You will have the opportunity to learn the history of the Hermit of Meredith Hill as well as the story of the founding of Hermit Woods Winery & Eatery. Bob will also walk you through how Hermit Woods wine is crafted and concluded with a wine tasting.

We will meet on Hermit Woods Road at the border of Sanbornton and Meredith (there is a Town Border Sign at this location). Hermit Woods Road runs between Rt 132 to the West and Carleton Road to the East. See the map below for the location of the parking area.

There is a small parking lot on the south side of the road, and you can park along the roadside if there is no room.

After the hike, we will all meet back at Hermit Woods Winery, 72 Main Street, Meredith, NH, for the tour and tasting portion of our event.

The hike is approximately one mile out and back. There is one stream crossing. If done carefully, you can be sure to stay dry. However, the stream is shallow; good boots should protect your feet either way. Although the hike is short, due to the absence of a trail, a river crossing, and the nature of the terrain, it can be challenging for anyone not used to roaming around in uncharted woods. If you have further questions about the difficulty of the hike, please get in touch with me at bob@hermitwoods.com
