Are you fascinated by the many different figures and shapes found in nature? Are you interested in folk art? Are you curious about the chemistry of print-making? You should try cyanotype printing!
Join Lakes Region Conservation Corps member Francis Turcotte on Tuesday, October 8th from 12:00-3:00 pm for a nature-inspired cyanotype printing workshop. A printing technique that has been around for nearly 200 years, cyanotype printing is an economical and eco-friendly way to create artistic impressions. Placing objects on treated fabric before exposing it to sunlight will leave crisp white silhouettes against a blue background, offering an endless possibility of images.
For this program, we will search for natural objects (like leaves, rocks, twigs, grasses, etc.) around the Squam Lakes Association to use for printmaking, and then we will go out into the sun to develop our images onto our t-shirts. Participants will need to provide their own light-colored shirts or other articles to decorate.
