The Long and Winding Road: Transportation Planning in New Hampshire

- An expert panel will examine current and future transportation issues
facing New Hampshire.

CONCORD, N.H. - April 9, 2008 - The current state of New Hampshire's
transportation infrastructure and the planning needed to ensure adequate
road and bridge networks for the future will be among the topics
discussed at a May 13 event in Manchester.

The Business and Industry Association, in partnership with the
Associated General Contractors of New Hampshire, NH Motor Transport
Association and A Safer Road to Tomorrow Coalition, will present "The
Long and Winding Road: Transportation Planning in New Hampshire," a
luncheon program focusing on New Hampshire's current and future
highway and transportation infrastructure needs. The event will be held
May 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center of New Hampshire in
Manchester. It is sponsored by Pike Industries.

The luncheon program will include a panel of transportation experts
from the construction industry, users of the system and transportation
policy makers from the New Hampshire Legislature and NH Department of
Transportation, the agency charged with planning and overseeing road and
bridge construction in the state. To date, confirmed panel participants
include Sen. Robert Letourneau, chair of the Senate Transportation
Committee; Rep. Candace Bouchard, chair of the House Public Works and
Highways Committee; and Christian Zimmermann, president of Pike
Industries.

Panelists will address topics such as the current state of New
Hampshire's infrastructure, planning needed to ensure adequate road
and bridge networks for the future, the role of public transit and
commuter rail, and ways to finance the necessary infrastructure
improvements and upgrades to the state's transportation system.

The cost to attend the event is $35 ($300, table of 10) for BIA and
Capitol Connect members and affiliates of the Associated General
Contractors, NH Motor Transport Association and A Safer Road to Tomorrow
Coalition. The non member fee is $45 ($400, table of 10).
