The Lakes Region of New Hampshire and the nearby White Mountains make an unbelievable backdrop for one of Mother Nature’s most spectacular annual displays – Fall Foliage. As the warm days and cool nights of Fall approach the leaves respond by not producing as much chlorophyll. In the Lakes Region, the colors begin to emerge in early September and reach their peak in early-mid October. Whenever you plan your fall visit your sure to see plenty of color with no more than a short drive. The foliage generally begins in the cooler Northern New Hampshire regions and works its way down the state as the season progresses.
